Rooftop Fritschestraße
The attic apartment adaptation project in Charlottenburg, Berlin, signifies a transformative journey from a dated 90s layout to contemporary elegance. The project began with the demolition of the existing layout, establishing a 'tabula rasa' for a fresh start. The primary objective was to fulfil the client's requirements for a modern living space while optimising functionality and aesthetics.
The scope of architectural work encompassed creating a new layout featuring three bathrooms, three bedrooms, and a spacious kitchen seamlessly connected to an outdoor rooftop terrace. A new circulation scheme was introduced to enhance flow and accessibility throughout the apartment.
Central to the design concept was the optimisation of ceiling heights, enhancing the spatial experience and infusing the apartment with a sense of grandeur. The material palette was carefully curated, combining engineered terrazzo stone with warm oak floorboards to evoke timeless elegance.
Incorporating vibrancy and character, a selection of coloured small tiles and lacquered surfaces adorned the built-in fittings, imbuing the apartment with freshness and vitality. The result is a harmonious blend of contemporary design elements and functional practicality, transforming the attic space into a sophisticated urban retreat in the heart of Charlottenburg.
